Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements, including any requirements described in the Education section, by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as conducting evaluations of occupational health hazards; conducting workplace safety inspections and determining health and safety improvements; and assisting in the preparation of safety policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of general and specialized safety principles and practices, methods and techniques.
Knowledge of national safety and occupational health and environmental laws, policies, and regulations.
Skill in conducting safety, health and environmental compliance inspections.
Skill in written communication.
Ability to identify underlying factors of hazards encountered in field operations and laboratories.
Skill in oral communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
You must have specialized experience related to safety and occupational health; OR a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in safety or occupational health fields, or other related fields that included 24 semester hours of study relating to safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, or closely related disciplines.
