Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, National Invasive Species Council (NISC) and is located in Washington D.C.
At the full performance level GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Facilitates implementation of priority activities as identified in NISC work plans and by NISC leadership and the Executive Director. This can include development of NISC-related outputs, coordination of thematic task teams, and facilitation of interagency collaboration.
2. Conducts research and presents results on priority invasive species issues and incorporates those into NISC discussions, outputs, and agency decision-making. This can include engagement with NISC member agencies, states/territories, tribes, local governments, and other non-federal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
3. Analyzes relevant invasive species programs and activities, including strengths, weaknesses, gaps, and critical needs to inform development and implementation of NISC priorities.
4. Oversees referrals and inquiries for comment received by NISC from Congress, the Government Accountability Office, NISC member agencies, major stakeholder groups, and the general public and works with NISC staff to ensure that they are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner.
5. Develops content for outreach purposes, such as press releases, interviews, and public presentations. Assists with the content and structure of the NISC website.
6. Engages with stakeholder groups and other non-federal entities to facilitate information exchange and responses to inquiries related to NISC activities.
NISC has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and may be allowed to telework with supervisory
approval.
Salary Information
GS-14 Washington, DC: $139,395 - $181,216 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.
(1) Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1. Advising management of potential issues and impacts of policies and programs;
2. Developing recommendations and alternatives for resolving policy issues; AND
3. Presenting findings, recommendations and/or alternatives for resolving policy issues to management
MUST MEET ALL.
