The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the day to day operations of the Youth Center. In this capacity, the position develops implements and administers clerical administration of the Youth Center, provides an overall safe environment to protect children and staff, assists the Director and Assistant Director, assists with various programs and more.
Duties
Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the program.
Serves as USDA Food Service Monitor or alternate for the Youth Center Program.
Monitors and manages the reception/front desk area.
Assists in the Youth Center Programs.

- Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination upon hire and every three years thereafter.
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required background checks.
- Must complete all required training, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, and food handler’s certification.

- Must be able to type at least 40 WPM.
- May serve as Government Purchase Cardholder for YC supply and kitchen purchases.
- The incumbent may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty.
- May serve as Supervisor On-Duty in absence of YC Director.
- May serve as POC for Give Parents a Break and Surge Care programs in absence of Youth Center Director.
- Conducts informal and formal tours of the facility to prospective patrons and guests.
- May conduct Quarterly Cash Counts.
- Informs patrons, via e-mail distribution, of upcoming parent involvement events, trainings, Parent Advisory Board meetings, and other necessary information.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes software processing procedures; producing documents such as graphics, letters, tables, and briefings; establishing and maintaining office and personnel records; reviewing and processing incoming and outgoing mail. Proofreads/edits correspondence and documents for correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and format. Consolidates and finalizes information for various reports in accordance with established reporting procedures and instructions from the supervisor. Upon request, gathers information from files and documents for supervisor's use in responding to inquiries.
OR
EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Air Force Youth Center regulations, procedures, and processes.
2. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to answer telephones, maintain files/office forms, order supplies, and general administrative guidance.
3. Knowledge of various automation programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and to produce a variety of documents.
4. Knowledge of filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed.
5. Ability to locate, assemble, and compose routine, non-technical information for recurring reports and inquiries.
6. Ability to consistently communicate effectively orally and in writing, using courtesy and tact. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
