About the Position: Serves as a Strategic Planner leading, planning, and executing analytical war-games in a systematic and rigorous manner to examine operational and strategic level issues, questions, problem sets, and scenarios to inform decision-makers within the organization.
Duties
Direct the performance of a broad range of wargaming methodologies to evaluate operational and strategic problem sets and scenarios to meet National Security Strategy (NSS) and National Military Strategy (NMS) goals.
Analyze suitability, feasibility, and acceptability of operational and strategic approaches, emerging technologies, or radically different proposed policies.
Review research and analysis regarding major geographical areas or functional programs with world-wide implications necessary to plan and execute wargames.
Apply ideas for new programs, policies, studies, and approaches in one or more subject areas that impacts the development of war-games programs and war-gaming analysis.
Coordinate study plans, methods, and findings with different command, component, and DoD elements.
Lead cross-functional study teams and directs the performance of operational and strategic analysis to plan, execute, and lead wargaming studies.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading analytical wargames to examine operational and strategic contexts, informing senior leadership and national security organizations; directing wargaming methodologies to evaluate problem sets and generate ideas that inform decision-makers in achieving National Security Strategy and National Military Strategy goals; designing impactful ideas for programs, policies, and studies that enhance war-games development and analysis; leading study teams in cross-functional analysis to enhance wargaming strategies; managing resources, coordinating projects, representing the organization at high-level meetings, and supporting organization initiatives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
