This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS), Children & Adults Health Program (CAHPG).
As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-13, you will serve as an expert in the development, evaluation, and
implementation of policies related to Medicaid, CHIP, and Basic Health Program (BHP) policies.
Duties
Develop, interpret, apply, and works with states and stakeholders to implement policy related to Medicaid or CHIP eligibility, enrollment and/or managed care.
Analyze polices related to eligibility, enrollment, and/or managed care.
Serve as a subject matter expert on issues or activities related to eligibility and/or enrollment policies that support beneficiaries.
Serve as principal contact and resource for inquiries.
Serve as a lead analyst for assigned areas of responsibility related to the implementation of Medicaid, CHIP or BHP eligibility and/or enrollment initiatives.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Analyzing or implementing Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Basic Health Program (BHP) eligibility, enrollment, quality, or managed care policy; 2) Providing technical guidance related to Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Basic Health Program (BHP) eligibility, enrollment, or managed care policy; AND 3) Developing Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Basic Health Program (BHP) technical documents such as policy analysis, status reports, briefing papers, and policy recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
