You will serve as a TECHNICAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST in theNAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND.

Duties

You will update, monitor, and coordinate information and exhibits on the library's web page. You will search, verify, and provide preliminary cataloging records for rare and special collection holdings. You will prepare, scan, and distribute materials in print or electronic format to customers and staff. You will search and provide initial cataloging records for new and previously uncatalogued materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Uploading and managing digital library content; Locating and selecting appropriate historic, technical, and scholarly material in manual and electronic sources for diverse scholarly, military, and general public clientele; Providing technical assistance for automated services including Library's Integrated Library System (ILS) and tools for library automation; Demonstrating a high competency regarding standard computer programs and equipment, including the use of the Internet and other electronic resources, including Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and tools for library automation; Handling multiple inquiries at once using best reference library practices. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

A full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in the subject-matter field of the position to be filled
OR
Four years of experience that provided a knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject-matter field; an understanding of the standard methods, procedures, and techniques of research and analysis in the subject-matter field; and where appropriate, ability to read and comprehend nontechnical material in one or more foreign languages. Such experience must have been equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum.
OR
A combination of education and experience as described above.


In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education
or
doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) related to the position
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
