You will serve as a AIRCRAFT LAUNCHING AND ARRESTING DEVICES (ALAD) MECHANIC in the DEPT OF NAVY NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER AIRCRAFT DIVISION RESEARCH & ENGINEERING GROUP of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.
Duties
You will set up and operate various stationary and portable power tools, as well as set up and operate high pressure air and hydraulic pumps used for functional and hydrostatic testing of ALRE components
You will use hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, dial indicators, optical tooling, recording instruments, flow meters, pressure controllers, automatic timing and control devices
You will read and interpret incomplete and tentative blueprints, schematic drawings, detailed Federal and Navy and Commercial Engineering Codes and specifications.

Manufacture, assemble, disassemble, overhaul, repair and installation of ALRE systems and components including Low Loss Launch Valves, MK 07 MOD¾ shipboard arresting gear, E-28, M-21 and M-31 land based arresting gear systems, sheave and anchor damper assemblies, retract valves, jet blast deflector assemblies, constant run out valves and water brake assemblies.
Set up and operate various prototype/experimental equipment designed to perform a wide variety of evaluation tests.
Conduct hydrostatic and operational tests of equipment to ensure against failure during fleet operations.
Fabricate various size ALRE Cross Deck Pendants and Purchase Cable test specimens. Operate heat-treat ovens and related equipment. Also operate different media sandblast booths as well as paint operations and booths.
Assist with the catapult launch valves, retraction engines, jet blast deflectors, water brakes and shipboard and land based arresting gear systems
