About the Position: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New England District (NAE) is responsible for managing the Corps' civil works, military, and other program responsibilities throughout the six New England states. The Operations Division is a diverse organization with a small Division level staff housed within the NAE Headquarters in Concord, MA. The Cape Cod Canal Project includes 8 recreational areas, Fox Point and New Bedford Hurricane Barriers, a visitor's center and 3 bridges.
Duties
Assist the Canal Manager, Administrative Officer and all Section Chief's in completing administrative support USACE personnel assigned to the Cape Cod Canal Field Office.
Prepare time and attendance for approximately 55-65 employees, working various shifts on a 24/7 basis.
Utilize office automation systems and various software to execute a variety of tasks and enter required data for all personnel and financial related actions.
Serve as a POC for receiving phone calls and greeting visitors to the Field Office.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-6 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting all of the following: 1) Utilizing automated software systems to prepare various types of documents, 2) Maintaining office files, AND 3) Providing information to callers and visitors concerning office or program knowledge. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
A qualified typist is required. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
