This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Base Cape Cod, Facilities Engineering Department, Buzzards Bay, MA.


The role serves as the principal office assistant, providing program support, administrative processing.  Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: - Administering the Facilities Engineering Department’s work order tracking system by receiving and processing work requests using the SAM (Shore Asset Management) computerized maintenance management system.- Providing advice, guidance and assistance to staff in a variety of program support and administrative duties in such areas as administration, training, files management, procurement functions, property accountability and reports. - Reviewing, analyzing and evaluating the accomplishments of various office administrative functions, such as records management, reports control, forms control and administrative standard operating procedures.- Maintaining, preparing and reviewing procurement documents and reports.

Applicants for the GS-06 must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include experience as using software applications to draw information in order to prepare/assist in preparation of reports; applying knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures and operations; serving as Timekeeper and Payroll Administrator liaison; and supporting emergency response activity. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
