This vacancy is for an Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-0028-13, located at District 13, Seattle, WA.
Duties
You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist and be responsible for implementing incident management and environmental resources protections during pollution and hazardous substance incidents, as well as manmade or natural disasters.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Serves as a senior program manager for the Environmental Management Program and leading a team, directing, coordinating, and evaluating a 24- hour; large- scale, Environmental Program complex.
Interpreting and applying environmental management strategies.
Participating in exercises, meetings, international and/or national workgroups.
Preparing reports for use in planning and responding.
Serves in various industrial operations; motorized watercraft; driver training; firearms; motor vehicle maintenance and repair facilities; hazardous materials storage and management, including explosives; large-scale construction; printing operations; warehousing; various laboratories.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
