About the Position: This position serves as Security Specialist responsible for addressing conventional arms, ammunition, explosives, and security matters with technical experts and staff at all levels of command, from installation through DOD, and with other federal, state, and local agencies.
Duties
Independently plans and directs the operation of a sound and effective security program.
Identifies security shortcomings and deficiencies during inspection and staff assistance visits to render findings and recommendations.
Advises security officers and commanders methods to cope with threats and vulnerabilities.
Implements security measures to ensure the security of people, government property and conventional arms, ammunition and explosive material to meet the requirements of the Command Force Protection, G-2 mission.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- TDY up to 10% of the time may be required.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Conducting risk or vulnerability assessments related to the protection of personnel, property, and conventional arms, ammunition and explosive materials (A&E); (2) Providing technical advice to senior leaders on security program policies and procedures; and (3) Devising measures to prevent or cope with terroristic threats and/or acts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
