This position is part of the NNSA - Chief and Associate Administrator for Defense Nuclear Security, Department of Energy. A successful candidate in this position will serve as a Security Specialist with the Office of Security Operations and Special Security Programs (NA-77), in the Special Security and Technical Security Division (NA-772).

This position is being advertised at both the NQ-02 and the NQ-03, with the following salaries for Washington, DC.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR NQ-02:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-01 or GS-07/08. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience in the administration of a multi-disciplined, Special Access Program (SAP) or Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI) security program. This experience must have included providing support within two or more of the following security disciplines: Personnel Security (PERSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Technical Security, Industrial Security, or Information Security (INFOSEC).
Examples of Specialized Experience:
Processing requests for access to SAP and SCI information.
Experience with the receipt, control, safeguarding, and accountability of classified information.
Performing duties associated with the management of SCI Facility (SCIF) and SAP Facilities (SAPF).

You may substitute the successful completion of master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position, -OR-
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related -OR-
A combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience as described in the vacancy announcement. This is computed by determining the total qualifying specialized experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Only graduate education in excess of one full year may be used to qualify.

This experience must have included providing support within three or more of the following security disciplines: Personnel Security (PERSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Technical Security, Industrial Security, or Information Security (INFOSEC).
Examples of Specialized Experience:
Applying national, DOE, and DoD SAP and SCI security polices, directives, and procedures including those regulating the construction and management of SCI Facility (SCIF) and SAP Facilities (SAPF).
Adjudicating requests for access to SAP and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
Applying knowledge of collateral, SAP, and SCI security administration to plans and execute the full range of security administration, Including the receipt, control, safeguarding, and accountability of classified information.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. Education
EDUCATION FOR NQ-02 ONLY: You may substitute the successful completion of - a master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an equivalent combination of graduate education and experience can be qualifying.
NQ-03: There is no education requirement or substitution at this grade level.
- If education may be substituted for experience, indicate this and include the general formula for education to experience conversion (e.g., a bachelor's degree qualifies at the GS-5 level).
