This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Infrastructure & Services Division RN413.
Duties
Applies Information Technology (IT) security principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability and accountability of information system resources throughout the system's life cycle.
Monitors the operation of networks and ensures hardware and network operating software are functioning properly and operations standards are met.
Keeps abreast of emerging technology to predict future network needs and assesses reports of state-of-the-art advances in software/hardware arenas and assesses applicability and impact of introducing new developments to current configurations.
Participates in management discussions, meetings, committees, or special projects and provides reports and recommendations so problems and solutions for major segments of a system are resolved without jeopardizing the mission.
Assists end users in one or more subject matter fields in deciding which processes to automate, how to select equipment and software, how best to use available technology, and whether and how to network.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position requires a top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
- This is a drug test designated position.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station.
- This is a Mission Essential position.
- This position is subject to Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s).
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience with Internet Protocol Telephony Voice and Video call conferencing technologies.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-12 grade level.
