Incumbent serves as the Senior Technical Advisor to the Director and/or a Division Manager in one of four functional areas of Flight Standards. Within this functional area to which this position reports, the incumbent serves as the recognized authority (subject matter expert) for the comprehensive overview of established and proposed policies and procedures related to Flight Standards organizational and administrative programs.
Duties
Provides both technical and analytical direction to senior management on complex, critical, and sensitive organizational and program management issues in direct support of mission critical assignments throughout the organization. Develops and recommends solutions to current problems and anticipates problems across organizational lines and disciplines. He/she exercises independent judgment in all program areas. All but the most sensitive problems are independently resolved without referral to the highest-level management.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position at the FV-J level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience is: experience analyzing aviation safety programs to ensure compliance with federal and agency regulations, programs, procedures and safety standards governing air operations.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
