This position is located in the Music Division, Special Collections Directorate, Researcher and Collections Services. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position. The position description number for this position is 435306 The incumbent for this position will work a flextime work schedule.

Duties

The position serves as Cataloging Technician, in the Music Bibliographic Access Section (MBAS), Music Division located in the Special Collections Directorate (SCD), Researcher and Collections Services (RCS) within the Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG) at the Library of Congress (LC). The position reports to the Supervisory Librarian of the Music Bibliographic Access Section and performs technician duties for acquisitions, cataloging, and serial control of the collections.

Qualifications

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. Knowledge of library metadata, acquisitions, and cataloging rules, practices and procedures. ** Skill in attending to detail. ** Ability to use information systems, email systems, databases, and computerized search tools and equipment. ** Ability to manage and prioritize workloads. Ability to provide customer service while exercising judgment and discretion. Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
