This position functions in the Prosthetic department at the Clement J Zablocki VA Medical Center located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Duties
Major Duties:
Assists visitors and/or callers with the completion of forms or documents necessary to provide the prosthetic items.
Schedules appointments for Respiratory Therapist, Prosthetist, Orthotist and Wheelchair Repair.
Serves as the timekeeper for the Prosthetics Department .
Scans invoices into APAT.
Provides clerical support to the Orthotic Lab staff (prosthetist, orthotist and wheelchair repair) by preparing correspondence and maintaining/scheduling patient appointments.
Enters required Health Care Procedural Coding System (HCPCS), ICD10 codes, and the VA Unique Codes necessary for the National Prosthetics Patient Database (NPPD), which provides the statistical data relating to workload and expenditures for the PSAS.
Determines when patient education is required and refer veteran to appropriate clinician for training.

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-5 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Do you possess at least (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the Prosthetic Clerk, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be credible, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service to qualify at the Grade 5. Examples of specialized experience include (but are not limited to): Knowledge of timekeeping rules and regulations; Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act and HIPAA in order to appropriately process release of information requests; Skills in the use of office automation equipment, such as fax machine, computers , printers, scanners and copiers are necessary to effectively communicate with others and to complete in final form all required paperwork using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Education - 4 years above high school. Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable for this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary at a desk and work station area. However, there will be some walking, standing, bending, pushing and carrying of light items like papers, reports, and files. May stand to great visitors and escort people to meeting areas. No special physical demands are required.
