This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Utilize test equipment to calculate and measure to perform functions. Utilize detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to construct individual chassis and components of electronic equipment. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and assemble equipment of limited design. Assist with mounting of cables throughout structural components for proper operation. Operate automatic test equipment which has been programmed to a type of chassis or circuit card to isolate or locate defective components. Replace circuit components and parts on Printed Circuit Boards, chassis and modules using hand tools.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Business travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Shift work and overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a Tier 1- National Agency Check With Written Inquiries (NACI) check.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment and annual Physical Examinations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a 1 year trial period.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Worker without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common tasks to include identifying and replacing defective electronic components, independently work on electronic items such as printed circuit boards, simple power supplies, modules, and various cables. I can operate automatic test equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Physical Effort: Work requires normal color perception, close eye-hand coordination and body movements such as occasional twisting, bending, stooping, standing no more than 2 hours a day, sitting non-continuous up to 5 hrs per day, walking non-continuous up to 3 hrs per day, lifting/pushing/pulling ten pounds maximum per day. May be required to work on the inside and outside of vans and shelters. Working Conditions: The incumbent is subject to the usual hazards associated with the electronic trade and work environment such as electrical shock; abrasions; burns; bruises; cuts; exposure to fumes, oils, greases, varying noise levels; and R.F. radiation. The incumbent may be required to wear protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear-plugs, etc., and is required to comply with all applicable safety directives.
