About the Position: The position is located at the Installation Command US Army Garrison DFMWR ACS Division, Ft. Moore, GA which is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year-round military training.
Duties
Responsible for identifying, coordinating, and obtaining a variety of resources for Army family members who have physical, developmental, emotional, or intellectual handicaps.
Assigned functions of the position include information, referral and placement, advocacy, respite care, and recreational and cultural activities
Develop and provides an installation/activity program of education and publicity to include command and unit briefings, newspaper articles, fliers, and other media.
Identify program resource requirements and provides EFMP budget input to include manpower, supplies, equipment, and other expenditures required for program operation.
Train and direct paid and volunteer staff who assist by performing a variety of tasks in support of the program. Prepares and meet 100% of the ACS accreditation standards for EFMP
Support the military personnel assignment process by advising on the availability of special education and health-related services

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Exceptional Family Member Program Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Social Work.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Maintaining partnerships in the community regarding local services available for use by families; Conducting briefings to personnel regarding Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) issues; Assisting personnel with developing a marketing strategy to increase awareness for Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) events and program offerings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study].
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
