Duties
The candidates will directly support a team of conference specialists in the NIST Conference Program and AV Services group. The candidate would be responsible for conducting pre-conference meetings with NIST Conference Chairs to obtain conference requirements, provide guidance, and develop conference budgets. The candidate would be responsible for creating and managing online registration sites, webpages and applications; coordinating audio-visual services, food and beverage functions, meeting room setups, and hotel room blocks.

Qualifications
ZA-II: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level (ZA-I at NIST) in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience supporting conferences, such as booking meeting room space, coordinating AV services and food and beverage services requests. The candidate must have working knowledge of technologies that support conferences (webpages, online registration systems, conference apps and virtual meeting platforms) with the ability to assist in troubleshooting technical issues, managing timelines for multiple events and projects simultaneously, collaborating with other team members to address client needs while maintaining client and customer satisfaction by responding to requests in a timely manner and resolving issues, making recommendations in processes and operations, strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, and proven writing skills to communicate services to registrants
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Selective Placement Factor: Writing Sample: Candidate shall provide one original writing sample/conference planning document of either: 1) An event run of show 2) a conference project plan for a 500-person event that includes meeting room rental, audio/visual services and equipment, food and beverage services, speaker selection and communication, lodging accommodations, promotion, staffing. The writing samples shall demonstrate specialized experience in managing technical conferences, and the ability to write clear, concisely, and grammatically correct.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
