NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a Public Affairs Specialist to join our team!

Duties

Oversee the editorial process to complete a draft book on the history of NIST covering the years 1993-2013, including identifying subject matter experts to review specific content; managing the review and fact checking process; managing the photo selection process; and reviewing and editing all content to prepare the book for publication.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Applicants must meet the following Specialized Experience: All applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level (ZA III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience in managing editorial processes, writing and editing to translate complex scientific topics into plain language suitable for a broad audience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The qualification requirements in this vacancy announcement are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook.
