You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST of NMRTC ANNAP DET LEAGUE ISLAND.
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense.
Duties
You will conduct industrial hygiene surveys of large, highly complex industrial work operations.
You will draft reports or portions of reports on industrial hygiene investigations.
You will brief management to provide status, updates, or other business information.
You will calibrate all field instruments used to conduct sampling within hazardous work environments.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with industrial hygiene concepts, principles and practices.
Experience recognizing and evaluating complex occupational health hazards.
Experience developing plans for control measures, including ventilation, shielding, material substitution, change in work procedures, isolation, education, and personal protective devices.
Experience with the use of industrial hygiene sampling techniques and instrumentation.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or
- A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or
- Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene(external link) (ABIH).
