About the Position: Serves as Traffic Management Specialist, deployment, and mobilization planner, and technical advisor in the Unit Movements Branch within the Fort Cavazos Transportation Division.
Duties
Coordinates accuracy of all movement plans and ensures execution using established doctrine.
Uses automated systems (e.g., Global Freight Management System (GFMS), Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS), Automated Movement Force Tracking (AMFT), to prepare movement plans.
Assists in developing deployment briefings and data management.
Coordinates with Unit and Division Transportation Officers, IIIC Logistic Leadership, such as Forces Command (FORSCOM) and Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
- Irregular work hours may be required after normal duty hours, i.e., weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.
- When necessary, incumbent will be required to work in shifts to cover 24-hour operations.
- Employees with any hazardous materials transportation responsibilities must take and successfully complete the DoD-80 hour in-classroom Hazardous Materials Certification Course every two years.
- Works in support of other deployment operation missions as required: rail and unit movement planning and execution.
- Position is designated key: employee occupying this position may not vacate during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.
- This is a Mission Essential position: The incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
- Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone at their residence to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
- You may be expected to travel for this position up to 10%.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/ or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes with:(1) Evaluating unit and mobilizations plans; (2) Coordinate and/ or evaluate Traffic Management transportation and execution of movement plans; and/or (3) using movement automated systems such as Global
Freight Management System (GFMS), Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS), Automated Movement Force Tracking (AMFT), Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES), Transportation Coordinators Automated Information for Movements System II (TC-AIMSII) and/or Radio Frequency Technology (RF) to prepare movement plans and associated documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
