Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As a Physical Security Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Providing subject matter expertise in planning, developing, and evaluating phases of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) physical security program.
Providing subject matter expertise in physical security knowledge for SAMHSA and interpreting policy and guidance originating from higher organizational levels with Health and Human Services (HHS) or other departments such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Maintaining program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and making available policies, procedures and written instructions from the supervisor.
Coaching junior staff in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, providing advice on work methods, practices and procedures and assisting the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
** Duties as shown are at the full performance level (FPL) of the GS-13. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the FPL.
Requirements

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
For GS-12: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:
Assisting with analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Continuity of Operations (COOP) program and the ability to perform mission essential functions.
Assisting with monitoring agency-wide alert notification system.
Advising on policies and procedures pertaining to the physical security of personnel, property, and/or information for the organization.
For GS-13: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:
Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the Continuity of Operations (COOP) program and the ability to perform mission essential functions.
Maintaining, updating, and/or monitoring agency-wide alert notification system.
Developing and/or implementing of policies and procedures pertaining to the physical security of personnel, property, and/or information for the organization.
