This position is located in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, Division of Physical and Cyber Security Policy, Access Authorization, Fitness for Duty, Policy Branch.The supervisor is Justin Vazquez.This position is in the Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208. This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements.This position is subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will perform the full range of Sr. Security Specialist duties.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the independent preparation and presentation of highly complex comprehensive and concise analyses of security-related issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate information, ideas, and advice in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both orally and in writing.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful approaches to problem solving, conflict resolution, and apply effective decision-making using available information and risk insights. Ability to use interpersonal skills to interact effectively with peers, management, and representatives of the industry, and to develop and implement successful approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of NRC’s mission, policies, processes, nuclear industry licensees, NRC inspection programs, international engagements, and threat assessments.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: experience advising, coordinating, and leading the security policy development, licensing, and oversight of challenging security topics that demonstrates an ability to analyze complex nuclear plant and/or security operations and to determine their technical feasibility or vulnerability, and adequacy of protective measures and/or defensive strategies. This considers comprehensive knowledge, training, and experience to address a dynamic and evolving threat environment; improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NRC's safety and security framework; and address challenges implementation of NRC's safety and security requirements.
