This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operational Support Division, Aviation Division. This position(s) primary purpose is to supervise the Administrative Support Unit (ASU), that provides administrative and operational support to an Aviation Division that covers a geographic region including Division DEA staff, District and Resident Offices (RO), local, National Guard, military and other Federal DEA staff and contractors.

Duties

As an Administrative Officer, your typical work assignments may include: Performing administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Providing resolution of administrative problems using sound productivity and motivation techniques, thorough problem-solving and decision-making techniques. Advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Providing guidance and leadership in providing effective methods to task support work, resolve problems, answer questions, correct deficiencies, evaluate support to management and staff to assure that SAC's guidance is being met. Developing new and revised policy statements, regulatory guidelines, operating programming documents, and procedural directives which govern unstable operating programs or major DEA programs having numerous goals or end products.

  • Employee required to become COR II certified within 18 months of assignment.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing and coordinating of a subordinate staff; 2) Providing subject matter expertise on financial and administrative program advice to managers; 3) Reviewing and analyzing acquisition, utilization, disposition, and accountability of resources; and, 4) Anticipating program initiatives, priorities and manpower trends. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
