You will serve as a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic in the Operations Officer of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Duties
You will recognize by name basic machines and tools, standard shapes and types of stock.
You will operate with dexterity and safety including consideration of speed and quality of operation and apply training on safety.
You will interpret instructions, specifications, including blueprints, oral, written directions from supervisor Manufacturers' guides, catalogues, technical manuals, bulletins, codes, drawings, blueprints, charts, and maps.
You will work on complete systems for assemble, disassemble, Install, test, maintain, repair, troubleshoot, calibrate, modify, and design.
You will determine method of repair, use appropriate tests, diagnosing, determining remedy using a variety of instruments, finding major leak in piping, or cold vacuum tube, or missing machine part.
You will inspect and trial runs of mechanical equipment, or simple test of electrical equipment.
You will disassemble, diagnosis, repair main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).

- You will be required to possess a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to possess a current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 certification.
- Must possess EPA 608 certification exam at the following levels: ‘Core certification’ PLUS one or more of ‘Type 1 (Small Appliances)’,’Type 2 (High Pressure)’ and/or ‘Type 3 (Low Pressure)’ certification.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Must be able to become CPR certified.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Diagnose, locate, and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (HVAC) such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, air handlers, water control valves, and air dampers; 2) Use trade tools and test equipment such as voltage, amperage, and ohm meters, electronic refrigerant leak detectors, temperature gauges, capacitors, and analyzers; AND 3) Follow safety procedures and practices when repairing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
