You will serve as a AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC). You will conduct visual and audible examination of equipment components by applying prescribed test procedures and equipment, and by exploration of probable reasons for equipment failure. You will dismantle, repair, and reassemble air conditioning components (e.g., pumps, impellers, compressors, chillers, receivers, evaporators) to return equipment to working condition. You will perform maintenance, calibration, modification, installation, repair and replacement of analog and direct digital controls (DDC) systems and equipment. You will inspect heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment to verify the equipment and component parts are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition. You will test for refrigerant leaks and use a refrigerant recovery/recycling station, to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards to safely reclaim, recycle and store the refrigerant before repairs can be made.
