About the Position: Serve as a Contract Specialist for the U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC) located at Fort Eisenhower, GA. *This is NOT a remote position.*

Duties

Administer contracts for a variety of equipment, supplies, and services. Perform pre-award functions to procure systems and services. Perform post-award functions for compliance. Serve as warranted contracting officer. Use computer equipment to enter the contracting database.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Business travel will be up to 15% of the time.
• Position requires certification per Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its supplements necessary to obtain a Contracting Officer Warrant, authorizing signature and the full range of responsibilities that accompany contracting officer duties.

Basic Requirement for a Contract Specialist: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees. OR Exemption: You are exempt from the education requirements above if (A) you are a current civilian employee in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000; OR (B) you are a current military member who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent)-1102 on or before September 30, 2000. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-09: Specialized Experience required for GS-09:One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Reviewing contracts for accuracy in accordance with policy; (2) Developing procurement plans to meet the needs of the organization; AND (3) Utilizing automated systems to monitor contract action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE GS-12: Specialized Experience required for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Analyzing contract data to identify issues and recommend corrective action; (2) Performing cost analysis to conduct contract negotiations; AND (3) Implementing guidance for the procurement of goods and/or services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
