This position will serve as a student trainee and will receive training in analytical methods used to develop objectively based information in support of administrative and programmatic planning, development, evaluation, and managerial decision-making. On-the-job training assignments provide a practical understanding of the organization, programs, policies, and objectives of the agency as well as furnish experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work techniques.

Duties

As a/an Student Trainee (Management and Program Analysis), you will: Perform work with a senior staff person and or as a part of a team in conducting and performing analysis assignments related to the effectiveness of programs and/or the efficiency of the management of the organizations operations. Assignments involve highly structured, entry-level work. Use basic functions of computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheet to perform elementary office automation tasks such as entering and retrieving data into or from existing spreadsheets and producing various standardized documents using established formats. Place and receive telephone calls; refers calls and visitors; opens and distributes mail; reproduces materials; and maintains files. Perform a variety of routine technical assignments that are structured to provide the incumbent with experience in the application of the program policies, procedures and practices of the organization.

Must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. B. All applicants are REQUIRED to submit all undergraduate and graduate college transcripts, including transcripts from transfer schools no later than the date indicated in the announcement. Transcripts may be unofficial at the time of application, but an official transcript is required if a job offer is extended. C. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. Please review the "REQUIREMENTS" section of the vacancy announcement to ensure that you qualify to apply to this internship. To qualify for the GS-03 grade level, you must meet the following requirements: Education: For the Pathways Internship Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows: Completion of one academic year of post-high school study. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.) OR General Experience: You may qualify with 6 months of general experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service. General experience for this position is defined as: Six months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. (For example: the completion of 6 months of post-high school studies and 3 months of general experience.) If qualifying with experience, the experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. Experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

Education

Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:

A. Must be a current student at an accredited high school (public or private) or in a home-school program*; college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. *Secondary home-school curricula must be recognized by the State or local government oversight agency.

B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
