This position is located in the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Louisville, Kentucky, and encompasses an interdisciplinary, multifunctional array of programs and services to meet the needs of chronically ill patients, so they remain in their own homes. The person in this position will serve as a Program Support Assistant under the administrative supervision of the GEC Supervisory Medical Management Specialist (Administrative Officer).

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/10/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Specialized Placement Factor:
1. Ability to perform the clerical/administrative support and perform various functions in an office setting (i.e., screening callers/correspondence and making appropriate referrals; providing information regarding policies and procedures; filing and retrieving information in accordance with strict requirements; arranging and coordinating meetings; responding to inquiries; prioritizing request/workload; handling multiple task, etc.
2. Skill in applying a knowledge of policies, regulations, directives, etc. for dealing with patient care and treatment of patients in order to perform a wide variety of nonstandard assignments and resolve a wide range of problems.
3. Ability to gather, compile, and analyze data/information with specified timeframes and prepare in spreadsheet format sufficient to assure proper billing accuracy and receipt of reimbursement charges.
4. Ability to communicate, telephonically and in person with a variety of individuals, in eliciting cooperation, obtaining and exchange information and resolving problems.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: collection, and/or tracking of data and statistical information . Assists in the acquisition, development and/or scheduling of program resources, and maintains all official correspondence. Completes and reviews reports. Designs, delegates and monitors office procedures that support patient care.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work performed is generally sedentary, however, walking, standing, bending, reaching, pulling and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small pieces of equipment and supplies, or driving an automobile may be required. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
