The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the Health Systems Specialist (Credentialing and Privileging Manager). Oversee all functions related to healthcare providers' professional credentials supporting all divisions of the VA Medical Center (VAMC). Is responsible for working collaboratively with local and VISN leadership to identify and/or implement best practices and advising VAMC leadership of all program requirements pertaining to the Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) program.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Health Systems Specialist (Credentialing and Privileging Manager). They oversee all functions related to healthcare providers' professional credentials supporting all divisions of the VA Medical Center (VAMC). The Incumbent is responsible for working collaboratively with local and VISN leadership to identify and/or implement best practices and advising VAMC leadership of all program requirements pertaining to the C&P program. They ensure quality assurance and provide oversight for the VAMC C&P program and ensures that the Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations are reviewed and updated annually (or as needed) to reflect regulations or accreditation standards.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet specialized experience within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 12/02/2024.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Health System Specialist. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and (3) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At this level, applicants would have obtained this experience working within a health care setting, working directly with clinicians and local leadership to solve problems in support of the delivery of patient care; applying organizational and system-wide strategies for continuous quality improvement; and experience running and supervising an administrative component of a health care credentialing and privileging program.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
