The Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) develops and manages medical programs in support of Aviation Safety. This position serves as a Drug Program Coordinator (DPC) which is critical to the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS). The DPC coordinates all phases of the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol-testing program within a region/service area/country to include pre-employment/pre-appointment, random, follow-up, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing.

Duties

Contacts are with customers who are both internal and external to the agency. Incumbent provides advice to management on the procedures for testing, chain of custody, and the ramifications of a positive test result. Monitors the urinalysis collection process. Serves as a principal point of contact with the contractor, contractor's laboratory personnel and FAA/DOT officials.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-G (FG/GS 10-11) level, you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to FV-F (FG/GS 5-9) level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes: Experience working with drug and alcohol testing programs; compiling, evaluating, and analyzing statistical data; experience working with internal/external stakeholders; identify problems areas; interpreting and applying regulations.ORPh.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeOR3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degreeORLL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university.ORCombination education and experience may be qualifying for this position.
