About the Position: Serves as Traffic Management Specialist in the Special Requirements Section, Domestic Movement Operations Branch, Movements Operations Division, G3, Headquarters Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Scott AFB IL.

Duties

Responsible for negotiating and preparing CONUS surface movement tenders for critical cargo in support of numerous Department of Defense (DOD) installations and contractors. Maintains direct contact with all Installation Transportation Officers, Division Transportation Officers, and Service Representatives at over 1,200 DOD facilities and their higher headquarters to resolve negotiating and movement issues. Works with major DOD shippers in developing and refining specifications for a variety of highly visible and often unique transportation requirements. Coordinates awards with Service/Agency headquarters, shippers, and requestors. Represents the Command and maintains liaison with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to support customer requirements for intermodal surface transportation services. Meets customers and service providers and hosts conferences, workshops and meetings to address operational/systemic issues and develops improvement programs and initiatives.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
