About the Position: Serves as the Public Affairs Specialist for the Public Health Command, East (PHC, East), develops modern and engaging social media and digital content for PHC, East, and subordinate Veterinary Readiness Activities' (VRA) primary social media platforms.FT. GEORGE G. MEADE
Duties
Prepare articles, infographics, photos and video products to tell the PHC, East, story, highlighting projects and programs, accomplishments, milestones, and special events to use in digital communications.
Conduct live streams of events and ceremonies.
Determine appropriateness of information for release by applying security, appropriateness, propriety and policy reviews.
Advise command staff on public information matters related to social media content and provides advice on DOD and Army policies and procedures.
Research new and innovative tools, programs, systems, software, services and industry trends in web and social media.
Create engaging social media content to tell the PHC, East, and subordinate VRAs' story and communicate the commander's priorities on official PHC, East, social media platforms.
Prepares articles, infographics, photos and video products to tell the PHC, East, story, highlighting projects and programs, accomplishments, milestones, and special events to use in digital communications.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1.) Responding to and/or overseeing appropriate and/or accurate release of information to internal or external media markets or the public; 2.) Writing and/or reviewing speeches; AND 3.) Producing and/or editing presentations for media releases.
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing or another related field.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
