About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Information Technology Laboratory, Computational Science and Engineer Division (SEID), Sensor Integration Branch (CEAB). Supervises and leads a branch staff comprised of approximately 40 computer scientists, computer engineers, and support staff.

Duties

Serves as one of the Chief, Cybersecurity Engineering and Analysis Branch (CEAB) providing supervisory and technical direction to relatively large teams (40+ people), including engineers, scientists, technicians, and administrative assistants. Supervises research and development through creativity and innovation in the areas of instrumentation, physical phenomenology measurement, sensor, and hardware and software system integration. Oversee the transition of developed technology through technical and operational support, technology demonstration, patent submissions, training, briefings, and documentation to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other agencies. Develop, plan, organize and execute mechatronics-related research and development projects. Conduct high-quality, broad-based Research and Development and reimbursable work as evidenced by (a) authorship of professional journal articles, technical reports, etc.; (b) participation in professional and technical societies at a national level; and (c) recognition of Research and Development accomplishments by awards from professional or technical societies or Department of the Army Provide ideas and input towards strategic planning to Division Chief, Technical Directors office, and ITL Executive Office.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position may require a one year Supervisory Probationary Period if not previously completed.
  • Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
