Duties

You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates and set schedule for completion of work. You will provide consultation services, professional guidance and general assistance regarding National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and environmental compliance. You will prepare Scopes of Work and government costs estimates using knowledge of environmental methods and specialized experience. You will be responsible for the development of policies and procedures for natural and cultural resources, establishment and monitoring metrics, coordination of proposals, and providing advice and briefings. You will develop compatible secondary uses of biological resources such as outdoor recreation and preservation of natural resources.

  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Mastery knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of environmental or natural and cultural resources planning sufficient to serve as technical authority on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Natural Resources (NR) and Cultural Resources (CR) programs. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

  1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Series 1301

Individual Occupational Requirements

Basic Requirements:
  1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
