About the Position: This position is located at the Madigan Army Medical Center in the Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy Program Division on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Duties
Screen all visitors and telephone calls to determine nature of the call or business of visitors and direct them accordingly to the appropriate office or personnel.
Compose routine correspondence, identify grammatical errors, and/or formatting matters pertaining to administrative protocol.
Utilize word processing and other types of software (spreadsheets, graphics, etc.), to process and produce a wide range of documents, some of which require complex formats, in support of the office automation functions.
Determine tasks to be accomplished based on knowledge of the duties.
Assist with collection of data for the office-operating budget and review staff member's submissions for proper format and compliance with office budget requirements.
Manage calendar, schedule appointments, and coordinate travel arrangements for Division Chief.
Review and screen correspondence, publications, regulations, and directives to determine which may be of interest to the supervisor or members of the staff.
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using computer and office automated tools to prepare correspondence and personnel actions; maintaining files or records in accordance with established instructions; and maintaining an office calendar by scheduling, rescheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings. This definition of specialized experience in typical work performed in the GS-05 grade/level in the Federal Service.

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Education or Business Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
