Duties
You will survey the techniques and methods used in performance of motor transport operations.
You will perform safety and health inspections of station facilities and evaluate compliance with applicable regulations and hazard classification systems.
You will develop methods for prevention by analyzing factors and consulting with specialists
You will prepare safety guides and internal orders for safety risks.
You will prepare lesson plans and conduct safety and health training in all aspects of safety.
You will advise senior level management officials on the status of the Occupational Safety and Health Programs and recommend changes in the design of work programs to meet new Safety and Occupational Health standards.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to lift moderately heavy items not weighing more than 50 pounds.
- You will often be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
1 full year of graduate level education
or
superior academic achievement
I have successfully completed undergraduate and graduate education with a major study in safety or occupational health fields OR
I have successfully completed undergraduate and graduate education with a major in other related fields that was included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
