You will serve as a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist in the Compliance and Quality Department, Safety and Occupational Health Division of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will analyze accident and injury reports to discover trends and mishap causes. You will direct the investigation of accidents and analysis of precipitating factors and accident cause data to develop specific methods for prevention. You will advise personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes You will certify work environments where local guidelines or standards require validation that specific and predetermined safeguards or practices are present prior to work beginning. You will oversee safety programs in highly complex industrial aircraft repair environment. You will perform building inspections, documenting hazards and recommending abatements. You will communicate with plant managers, supervisors and aviation maintenance professionals to ensure that safety training is completed and understood. You will review Industrial Hygiene Surveys and Job Hazard Analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of . 1) Scheduling surveys of shops, and offices to identify and evaluate risk potential involving a wide variety of industrial and office work environments and occupations; 2) Analyzing precipitating factors and accident cause data in order to develop specific methods for prevention; 3) Instructing employees on a variety of safety and occupational health subjects including chemical, physical safety, various shop safety needs or ventilation requirements; 4) Directing investigations of accidents and determining cause for accidents; 5) Developing command occupational safety and health instructions based on command instruction and policies; and 6) Determining the extent to which mechanical and physical conditions comply with required or acceptable standards.
