About the position: This position will be assigned to The Outdoor Recreation Department on Edwards AFB.
You will oversee the daily operations of the outdoor recreation equipment checkout and resale program.
This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.
Duties
Manage the off-campus recreation areas and ensure they meets or exceeds customer service expectations by providing a clean, safe, and enjoyable recreational environment.
Supervise sub-activity leaders and staff members, delegating tasks, and ensuring duties are carried out efficiently and effectively.
Coordinate maintenance and improvements to recreational facilities, including recreational lodgings, RV storage areas, FAMCAMPs, day-use areas, and parks.
Develop and implement rules, regulations, and procedures for the recreation site, ensuring proper communication to the users.
Develop and manage the budget for the recreation area, working closely with the Outdoor Recreation Director or Community Services Flight Chief.
Maintain accurate records and reports regarding the recreation site, including utilization, revenue, expenses, and maintenance activities.
Plan and execute marketing strategies to promote the use of the off-campus recreation area and increase revenues appropriately.
Serve as liaison between staff, customers, and the Community Services Flight Chief or Outdoor Recreation Director.
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvements, ensuring the recreation area's viability, functionality, and popularity.
Effectively manage emergencies, accidents, and other situations, following established procedures and policies while keeping the safety and well-being of users as the utmost priority.
Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include but not limited to: corrective and/or adverse action for performance or conduct; scheduling and granting leave; and identifying training needs.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and deadlines.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- May be required to work nights, evenings, weekends, family down days.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random testing.
- Physical examination due within 60 days of hire.
- Must possess a valid drivers license and provide a clean driving record from the DMV.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, or other related fields preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Proven track record in supervising employees and managing a multi-activity off-base recreation area.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work with a diverse group of people.
Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
Ability to make sound decisions and manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of budgeting, marketing, and promotions. Understanding of applicable regulations, policies, and procedures governing the operation of an off-base recreation area.
Completion of on-the-job training as determined by the Community Services Flight Chief or Outdoor Recreation Director within 60 days.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Position requires favorable completion of a Tier 1 background investigation.
This position is a drug testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for drug use.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
