About the position: This position will be assigned to The Outdoor Recreation Department on Edwards AFB.
You will oversee the daily operations of the outdoor recreation equipment checkout and resale program.
This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.
Duties
Oversee the daily operations of the outdoor recreation equipment checkout and resale program, ensuring efficient and effective service to customers and program participants.
Manage equipment inventories, including purchase, maintenance, repair, and disposal, to ensure adequate supplies and the readiness of equipment for checkout or resale.
Coordinate with the Outdoor Recreation Director and Programs Manager/Assistant Director to establish and implement operational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines and program goals.
Manage equipment maintenance technicians, including scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and providing guidance and support as needed to ensure the effective maintenance and repair of equipment.
Regularly inspect and assess equipment for safety and functionality, implementing maintenance and repair plans as necessary to ensure the availability of equipment for checkout and resale.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure the timely acquisition of equipment, parts, and services necessary for the operation of the equipment checkout and resale program.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of equipment check-ins, checkouts, maintenance, and repairs for reporting, budgetary, and inventory control purposes.
Collaborate with the Outdoor Recreation Director and Programs Manager/Assistant Director to establish and implement training programs for staff and participants, including on-the-job training, to ensure the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe and efficient use of equipment.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures, and take proactive measures to promote a safe and secure operating environment for staff and participants.
Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include but not limited to: corrective and/or adverse action for performance or conduct; scheduling and granting leave; and identifying training needs. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

- Physical Examination due within 60 days of hire.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Associates or bachelor's degree in outdoor recreation, sports management, business, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience in outdoor recreation, sports management, or a related field, with a focus on equipment management, maintenance, and repair.
Experience in managing personnel, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance, repair, and safety practices and procedures.
Proficiency in inventory management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including standing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying equipment and supplies over 50 pounds.
Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. This position has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
