This position is located within the Division of Nursing Services of the Whiteriver Indian Health Service Unit in Whiteriver, AZ.
The purpose of this position is to provide full technical and administrative supervision for House Managers. The House Manager provides full direction and supervision of nursing activities and nursing care provided by the inherent departments after hours, weekends and holidays. House Managers are on a rotational basis for days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Duties
Incumbent may be required to float to any or all of the following areas but not limited to: Birthing Center, Outpatient Department including Cibecue Health Center, Procedure Room, Family Care Unit, Ambulatory Surgery Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Public Health Department (PHN), and Emergency Department.
Provides specialized nursing care to patients in a ward of a hospital with injuries, illnesses or attitudes that
require adaptation of established nursing procedures.
Sets up and operates specialized equipment, including but not limited to: cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, apnea monitors, non-invasive blood pressure machines, rapid intravenous infusion pumps, suction equipment, EKG machines, splinting and casting equipment, small volume nebulizers, feeding pumps, baby warmers, blanket warmers, and fetal monitors.
Serves as the Supervisory Nurse with responsibilities of assuring House Manager functions are provided and for accomplishment of work planning, direction, human capital management and performance evaluation.
Maintains unit specific records for assignments, work schedules, patient and staff census, patient transfers/admissions/discharges and unit checklists.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this 0610 occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-12Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: Knowledge of nursing concepts, skills and principles necessary to provide professional services. Demonstrated management, administrative and supervisory skills necessary to effectively manage nursing services and to prioritize these services according to patient needs and outcomes. Ability to communicate verbally with individuals and groups from various educational economic, and cultural backgrounds. Minimum one year of full time practice experience as a Registered Nurse in one of the following settings: Intensive Care Unit, Labor and Delivery Unit, or Emergency Department.
