This position is located within the Whiteriver Service Unit located in Whiteriver, AZ. This position serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Specialist and serves as the supervisor of the Infection Prevention and Control Program as well as, providing oversight of the Employee Health Program.

Provides leadership in maintaining a comprehensive hospital-wide Infection Prevention and Control Program to prevent, identify, and control infections acquired in the hospital and community.
Uses relevant research findings in the provision of infection prevention and control services by initiating, conducting, and disseminating the findings of locally-based research in infection prevention practices, treatments, and disease management.
Serves on and coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. Ensures healthcare practice is within current infection prevention and control policy and procedure guidelines, and contributes to the development and management of clinical processes.
Supervises employees responsible for the Employee Health and Infection Surveillance Programs.
Supervises and evaluates work performance of the Employee Health Nurse and Administrative Support Assistant.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): All applicants must meet all the basic requirements:
Education: A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited professional nursing educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained
OR
Possess a degree from Foreign Nursing School and possess an Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Additional Education Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position.
Areas of specialties for positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia, Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery, Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology, Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Occupational Health, Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the position.
Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0610-13:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: Developing policies and procedures for infection control to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements. Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices and procedure to adequately apply infection control practice to nursing and clinical programs. Knowledge of Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources Services Administration, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, Center of Disease Control and Occupational Safety Health Association's policies and guidelines. Ability to analyze data, conduct rounds and initiate the appropriate action with the findings. Skill in research methodology including design, data collection, and analysis required for interpreting current research articles and reports. Experience with conducting educational training on infection prevention in a large group setting. Skill with providing oversight, direction and coordination of projects and investigations related to infection control services.
