Advanced Practice Nurse (Anesthetist) position to be filled in the Surgical Services Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) in Whiteriver, Arizona. The Incumbent will provide anesthetic treat plan to maintain continuity of comprehensive patient care. The Incumbent will be supervised by the Clinical Director and/or Assistant Clinical Director.

Duties

Participates in the pre-operative assessment of the surgical patient by reviewing the clinical chart and interviewing the patient in order too ascertain the physical status, and recommend the specific type of anesthesia. Administration of general anesthesia to induce the patient to the proper state of narcosis. Manages patient condition throughout surgery which involve interpreting and utilizing data from a variety of monitoring devices and determining the need for a applying appropriate supportive therapy. Manages the post anesthesia care of patients by reviewing the clinical chart; conducting interviews to determine presence or absence of complications; and assuring continuity of care form surgery to recovery room. Maintains medical records and reports on assigned surgical patients

This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S) - Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S) - Additional Licensure Requirement for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: managing the patient's condition throughout surgery by interpreting data from monitoring devices, applying appropriate supportive therapy such as artificial ventilation, adjusting fluids and electrolyte balance. Manage post anesthesia care of patient's providing continuity of care from operating room to recovery room, and managing any complication related to the anesthetic delivered.
