Duties
As a Public Health Analyst (Policy & Issues Management) you will:
Develop projects to identify, review, and analyze complex and highly visible actions such as public health legislation, executive directives, Departmental policy issuances, voluntary changes in practice by influential organizations or groups, as well as other problems, issues, or program requirements that may be unstable or complex and that have the potential to impact public health as well as the activities of the division, center, and/or coordinating center.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with other organizational units within Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) including other national centers, and offices within the CDC Office of the Director, CDC Washington, Field Marketing Organization (FMO)/Leg, and others; other Federal agencies and quasi-governmental groups such as the CDC Foundation; and other key partners including national and international organizations
Develop new public health programmatic initiatives and assess issues of importance to the mission and activities of the program.
Identify strategic programmatic and public health areas in need of strengthening as well as new areas for program development.
Respond to Congressional/Executive Branch inquiries and correspondence requesting information regarding CDC strategies, programs, and responses to health problems; data; and general information requested about health problems.
Develop materials to explain programs to the general public and to specific groups including Congressional staff, legislative committees and subcommittees, state policy makers, Departmental and other executive branch officials, and other groups interested in specific program activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: advising, planning, developing, analyzing, and evaluating public health programs and policy.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
