You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) in the Structural Engineering and Planning Division (Code 250), Engineering and Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will perform engineering and planning services directly related to achieving the objectives of the division. You will perform and prepare engineering instructions and procedures required to execute complex projects. You will serve as one of the Project Trouble Desk engineer/technical advisors for the Division in resolving departures from specifications. You will conduct independent engineering studies, investigations, research and analysis for the solution of unusual or unprecedented engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects. You will serve as a technical consultant for acceptable substitutes for materials which are not available, based on an evaluation of published data and technically approved alternatives, environmental considerations, service conditions, etc.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying advanced theories, concepts, and principles practiced in naval architecture/structural engineering to collaborate on development efforts, resolving complex issues, and performing maintenance requirements for all structural systems for the branch, which includes inspection/repair/opening/closing of tanks, Special Hull Treatment (SHT), Mold In Place (MIP), preservation, sound damping, deck covering and Maintenance Requirement Card (MRC) inspections.
