  • May be required to perform outreach work at off-site locations assigned by Flight Chief or Team Lead.
  • Incumbent is subject to on-call as duties require 24-hour coverage. After-duty coverage will be no more than two weeks per month.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 0101 Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: (GS-09) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: 1) Providing knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. 2) Conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, providing assistance in developing goals and plans, and determining appropriate referral services/options when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. 3) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and with program representatives and officials. 4) Assessing and measuring organizations' trends, concerns, and needs; assisting in identifying and prioritizing goals; and providing guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues. 5) Communicating effectively orally and in writing. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or I have a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. OR EDUCATION: Successful completed at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a major directly related to the position of Violence Prevention Integrator. This education was received from an accredited University, College, etc. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application (GS-11) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: CONTINUED FROM DUTIES: 4. Ability to create and implement a marketing, outreach and public relations strategic plan. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, both orally and in writing, and with a high degree of empathy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and with program representatives and officials. 6. Knowledge of comprehensive programs of federal entitlements administered by DOD, VA, and the SSA as they pertain to the Survivor Benefits/Survivor Rights Programs, Casualty Services and military life insurance programs (including the impact other survivor benefits will have on SBP, Civil Service retiree pensions and effect on military retired pay and survivor annuities) and the inter-relationship of these benefits and how it compares with commercial alternatives. 7. Knowledge of, and familiarity with, the responsibilities of the DFAS Centers, VA, and the SSA. 8. Knowledge of military rank and precedents and chain of command and the processes for verifying deaths, and the processes required by the Casualty Services Program, along with interment rights and benefits provided by the VA including travel for family members, transportation of household goods/extension requests, and claims for destruction of personal property. 9. Ability to resolve problems related to casualty operations and the SBP with the DFAS Centers, VA, and the SSA. 10. Ability to develop and apply knowledge of federal, state, and local social services available in the community as they relate to SBP, Casualty Services, and military life insurance programs (SGLI, VGLI, and NSLI). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
