This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Medicare Drug Rebate & Negotiations Group (MDRNG).
As a Operations Specialist, GS-0301-9, you will be the central operations person and perform a wide variety of administrative management activities.
Duties
Provide advice and guidance on the interpretation of administrative directives and instructions.
Research and obtain background information for required actions through available tools such as automated databases, historical files, and review of previous or current studies/projects on related topics.
Manage the correspondence system and expedite replies to inquiries concerning subjects that are of high priority or interest to management and staff.
Provide technical assistance and support to staff related to use of computer software and systems, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, ConCur, ITAS, etc.
Maintain office calendars and appointment/meeting schedules.
Prepare travel orders, make travel and lodging arrangements, and arrange and coordinate schedule of visits.

In order to qualify for the GS-09, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Analyzing and resolving administrative or operational issues in order to improve processes; 2) Maintaining time and attendance records for staff using a Time and Attendance System (such as ITAS); AND 3) Scheduling travel arrangements for management and staff.

Substitution of Education for Experience: You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS-09 level by possessing a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled.
- OR -
Combination of Experience and Education: Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the GS-07 grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at the grade GS-09. Therefore, only education in excess of 1 full year of graduate level education may be used to combine education and experience.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
