This position is located within the Environmental Management Services Division of the Fargo VA Medical Center. Incumbent performs both janitorial and custodial services (e.g., textile distribution and inventory activity, sanitizing and disinfecting, waste removal, cleaning of blinds, replacing curtains, washing windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, discharge cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing and extracting, polishing floors and applying floor finishes)
Duties
Duties for the position include but are not limited to:
Maintaining VA facilities for Veterans and their families are essential to the patient care experience at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Emptying trash and wastebaskets, replaces liners. Transporting general refuse, regulated medical waste and recycling to central collection areas.
Performing a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties.
Duties include cleaning wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas.
Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing (machine) floors, vacuuming carpets and upholstered furniture, emptying waste baskets, cleaning light globes and Venetian blinds, washing walls, windows and ceilings by climbing small ladders, refilling toilet tissue and towel dispensers and moving furniture.
Replenishing supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap in all areas where dispensers are located.
Carrying out assignments with minimal supervision.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Physical Requirements: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
