The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) at the Fargo Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.
Duties
Duties for the position include but are not limited to:
Assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis.
Coordinating work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities.
Cleaning of all patient areas, corridor spaces throughout Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned.
Assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision.
Planning daily and weeks assignments, scheduling periodic work for areas of responsibility, taking into consideration the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established priorities.
Training staff and ensuring that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients, patients' family members and personnel.
Providing on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate.
Providing special direction to new employees to prepare them for individual assignments, procedures and safety policies.
Scheduling regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives.
Keeping subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures and uses of equipment and supplies.
Controlling the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit.
Ensuring all safety regulations and procedures are observed and may on occasion be required to conduct training classes on specific safety issues.
Coordinating activities with other services, including rearranging work schedules during remodeling, painting and relocation of offices, clinics or patient wards and other duties which help coordinate moves.
Routinely inspecting assigned areas to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments, sanitation levels are maintained, equipment properly cared for.
Initiating and nurturing equal opportunity among their subordinates.
Recommending promotions or reassignments, performing ratings, training, disciplinary actions, changes in performance standards, and the suitable applicants for vacancies.
Maintaining work reports and records and assists supervisors in planning overall leave schedules.
Adhering to the Master Agreement between the VA and Local Bargaining Units.
Work Schedule: M-F 3:30pm - 12:00am (midnight).
